Rabbi Elbaz's Sixth Grade Newsletter/ Sept. 14th

This week passed so quickly in Kita Vav. In Chumash we progressed further by learning a few psukim with Rashi. The students received a Rashi packet that was also done for homework. We began perek bet in Shmot and learned about the birth of Moshe, Moshe killing the Egyptian, and are up to Moshe leaving for Midyan. We are stressing the ability to read from the Chumash text and from Rashi. After Chag Succot we will begin a Chumash project where the students will
“build” Egyptian cities from the time of our “avdut” ( slavery) . When we complete perek bet, the students will get a guideline for the test which will be announced at a later time.

In Navi we are completing perek bet: the sins of Beit Eli, the beginning of Shmuel’s service to Hashem and with Eli the Kohen HaGadol. When we complete our study of this perek, the students will get a study guideline for the test that will be announced at a later time.

In Mishna we will continue according to the Bonayich curriculum once our project on the Nesiim and Anshei Knesset HaGedola is completed, and learn about the period of the Sanhedrin and the Nesiim.

In Dinim the students got their beautiful Chagim packets for Elul and Rosh Hashana today to bring home. They were tested on them and the tests will be sent home with the packets. Next week we will get our next Chagim packet and begin learning about Yom Kippur and Succot.

In Parasha the students got a Parasha page. Please encourage your sixth grader to tell you the D’var Torah. Please sign so I know they did.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Wishing you a very happy, healthy New Year!

Shana Tova U’Metuka!

Rabbi Elbaz
