6th Grade Judaic newsletter for Oct. 26th

We had a very busy week in Kita Vav. Let's see what we accomplished.
In Chumash: I am amazed at the progress all the children are making in Chumash. I returned our last test and was very satisfied with the level of comprehension and skills demonstrated by the test results.
It is apparent that the students have a large Chumash vocabulary and we will continue to learn and increase our knowledge. This week I will be evaluating our students in their technical reading of the text and of Rashi.
In Navi: This week we completed perek gimel in Shmuel and the here, too, we are expanding our Navi vocabulary. We enjoy learning the exciting stories in Sefer Shmuel. The students were tested in Navi and showed good knowledge of the material taught.
In Mishna: This week we will complete our unit on the Sanhedrin and the different periods from the time of the Beit Hamikdash until Rabbi Yehuda Hanasi. There will be a test this Thursday on this material.
Parsha: Each week we learn about the week's parsha. Please encourage your child to share the D'var Torah with you, especially the questions and answers on the parsha. Please sign and return.
Believe it or not, Chanuka is not so far away and we have begun our rehearsals for our Chanuka play. Please encourage your student to review his/her lines and to learn their parts by heart.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation,
Shavua Tov!

Fourth Grade Judaic newsletter for Oct. 19

בס"ד

Rabbi Elbaz's Fourth Grade Judaic Newsletter/ Oct. 19th

We had a very busy week in Kita Daled. In Chumash we completed perek 28 and began perek 29 in Parashat VaYeitsei. This is the story of Yaakov in the house of Lavan and very soon we will learn about the birth of the shevatim ( tribes). Our lessons use varied learning techniques emphasizing reading accuracy, vocabulary enrichment, and comprehension of the Chumash text and that of Rashi. Upcoming tests: Monday, the 29th the children will be tested in Chumash on perek 28. They will get a guideline for study and review to prepare them for this test.

In Navi this past week we completed perek aleph and began perek bet in Sefer Yehoshua. In perek aleph we learned that the leadership passed into Yehoshua's capable hands and also familiarized ourselves with the map of Eretz Yisrael and its borders. Perek Bet which we began, tells us of the sending of the spies to Yericho, the first city that Bnei Yisrael  conquered. The students are presently working on a project that is connected with the concept of the wars and conquest of Eretz Yisrael.

Each week we learn about the Parashat Hashavua and the children receive a D'var Torah to share at home. Please encourage them to do so. Please sign and return on Monday. Thank you!

We have also just begun working on our Chanuka play. The students will be bringing home their scripts next week. Please make sure your child reviews his/her part often and learns it by heart.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation!

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Elbaz
