Judaic newsletter for 6th grade/ nov. 16th

B"H
Shalom U'vracha Sixth Grade Parents,
We had a very busy week in Kita Vav. In Chumash we completed our study of the first ten psukim of perek daled which tell about the signs Hashem gave Moshe to do before Pharaoh and the Elders of Am Yisrael, so that they believed Hashem had indeed sent Moshe. We looked for word families through their common shorashim ( roots), practiced exercises of "Who said to whom?" and "How is it written in the Torah?". This coming week we will continue our study of perek daled in Parashat Shmot using the exercises mentioned above and in addition different exercises to help us retain the new vocabulary such as Bingo, memory games and wordsearches.  We will also learn some Rashi's on these psukim.
In Navi we completed perek daled which told about the taking of the Aron Brit into captivity by the Plishtim. This week we will begin our study of perek Heh and discover where the Aron Brit was and what happened to each place it "visited".
In Dinim the children will receive their new dinim packet on Chanuka and we will begin our study of this approaching holiday.
As we do each week, we learned about the week's parsha and its main topics,  and I hope your child shared the D'var Torah with you. Please remember to sign and return so I know he/she did.
PLEASE SAVE THE DATE: DEC. 13TH THURS, 10:00 AM FOR THE SIXTH GRADE CHANUKA PLAY! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Shalom U'vracha Fourth Grade Parents,
We had a busy week in Kita Daled. In Chumash we learned about Yaakov working 7 years for Rachel and then another 7 years for her since Lavan switched his daughters on Yaakov. We also learned a few Rashi's from psukim 17 and 18. We looked for different word families through their common roots ( shorashim) and started a clay project on the shevatim (tribes) This coming week will start learning  about the 4 shevatim ( tribes) that were born to Yaakov Avinu from Leah Imeinu. That will complete our study of perek 29.
In Navi we continued working on perek Bet in Sefer Yehoshua. We highlighted all the important words from these psukim for focus. We also completed our poster project on the topics connected to the first days before Bnei Yisrael enter Eretz Yisrael.
In Dinim we will get our new Dinim packet on Chanuka and will be focusing on that in the coming lessons.
As always the children learned about the week's parsha along with its main topics. Please return signed so I know your child shared it with you. Thank you!

Sixth Grade Judaic Newsletter/ Nov.2

Rabbi Elbaz’s Sixth Grade Judaic Newsletter/ Nov. 2

We had a very busy week in Kita Vav.  In Chumash we continued working on the story of the text emphasizing accurate reading, comprehension and Chumash vocabulary. We will continue with a few Rashi’s and progress to learning about Moshe’s mission of getting Bnei Yisrael out of Mizrayim. To enhance our study, we will work on a clay project and design our portrayal of Bnei Yisrael’s enslavement in ancient Egypt.

In Navi we continued to perek daled after completing perek gimel, with the prophecy and punishment of the House of Eli. In perek daled we will learn about the war and the Aron being taken captive by the Plishtim.

In Mishna  we completed the perek about the Nisiim and the Sanhedrin in different periods and the students prepared amazing projects about these different periods. These wonderful projects are hanging on our bulletin board in the hallway, so please come by and take a look. This week we will begin perek bet in Masechet Brachot in the matter of Tefila.

Once again your student learned about this week’s parsha and had a D’var Torah to share with you. Please continue to encourage your child to share this with you and return signed so I know he/she did.

Our students continue to rehearse for their Chanuka play. This week I will be teaching them the songs for the play.

Rabbi Elbaz’s Fourth Grade Judaic Newsletter/

                                    Nov. 2

We had a very productive week in Kita Daled. In Chumash we continued working on our Chumash vocabulary and learning about Yaakov’s first days in Lavan’s house. We will be dramatizing the scene of Yaakov meeting the shepherds and his cousin, Rachel, at the well, on Monday using Chumash language and translating it to modern Ivrit ( Hebrew). In this way the students will use the new vocabulary in a meaningful and fun way. We will have costumes and props, too. During this coming week, we will progress towards the birth of the shevatim ( tribes) and learn a few Rashi’s.

In Navi we completed our project on Bnei Yisrael’s preparation in entering Eretz Yisrael and presented it to the class. We will work on completing perek bet this week and start learning about the conquest of Yericho. Our next project will be building a model of Yericho in order to emphasize the magnitude of the miracle Hashem did for Bnei Yisrael in its conquest of this city.

This week the children once again learned about the parsha and hopefully shared the D’var Torah and questions and answers with you. Please sign and return so I know they shared this with you.

We continued our rehearsals for our Chanuka play and the children are doing a really good job!
