Sixth grade Judaics weekly update/ May 12th

B'H
Shalom Sixth Grade Parents,
I hope you are enjoying Mother's Day. We had a very busy week in Kita Vav.Here is a short update.
In Chumash we began our study of perek 11 in Parshat Bo, our third and final parsha for this academic year. We have completed our study of 9/10 makot ( plagues) and reviewed Chumash vocabulary from the beginning of the year, including shorashim ( roots), learned new vocabulary and the Rashi for pasuk 22. This week we will continue with our analysis of the Chumash text, learn new vocabulary and Rashi for our new psukim.
In Navi the students were tested on perek 15: the war of Shaul with Amalek, his sin and the importance of obeying Hashem's commands. The students also got an "unseen" ( psukim which were new to them and not taught before), were divided into groups, and together prepared the contents they learned from these puskim on perek 15: the anointment of David by Shmuel Hanavi. They rose to the challenge and succeeded in understanding the content from these new psukim on their own. Kol HaKavod!
In Mishna we completed mishna gimel in Masechet Bikurim. The students learned who has to bring bikurim, when and why. This week we will continue with three new mishnayot and next week B"H will have our test.
We will also have a big Chumash test during the last week of school. I will speak about it to the students so they know what to study and post it on my blog very soon.
In Parsha the students learned about Parshat Bamidbar on Friday. Please return the sheet signed if they shared the D'var Torah with you.
Chag Shavuot Sameach!
